SARASOTA GOSPEL TEMPLE
OUR CHURCH
At the onset of the year 1994, the vision of our church was given to our late overseer, Brother Lionel Joseph, who began patiently praying God about the location of our assembly and the elder he would appoint over it. About 12 years later, he drove through towns as suggested by Elder Preval, just to arrive at the city of Sarasota where he appointed Brother Edwige Achile as Pastor over the church on Sunday, October 8th, 2006.
Despite the humble beginnings, it became very evident over the years that God had a special mission for this group of people. "A city of refuge" as often called, our church has become home to those seeking a family, a shelter for the soul, and a place where the true unconditional love of God can be felt.
It is our strong conviction that Jesus-Christ is the son of the only living God who came and died for the redemption and salvation of anyone who believes in him. We believe that a five-fold ministry is an instrument that God will use in these latter days as his hand on this earth to restore the Bible-based doctrines, the order, and the operation of God as it once was in the early church. Such order and operation through the power of the Holy Ghost are to bring souls unto perfect obedience to the will of God and unto holiness without which, no one shall see the Lord.
Over the years, God has also made it even more clear to our pastor his mission to accomplish a special work with the youth of our surrounding communities who are in dire need of guidance and support. With a growing population of young people attending regularly, the Elder sees it fit to begin a construction project which would allow our church to house many activities and programs pertinent to the growth and development of our people as well as the community.
One thing remains certain; with God's help and the support of our community, we will prevail against all odds and obtain all the resources we need to help us build our church compound and become the lighthouse we are called to be.
OUR PASTOR
Born in December 1958, Brother Edwige Achile received his calling to the ministry at a very young age and began receiving his ministerial formation from Elder Joseph Desrivieres in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Ever abounding in the grace of God, Brother Achile earned the love and honor of his contemporaries as a seasoned teacher, a man of God with the heart of a Shepherd who uses everything he owns for the utility of the Kingdom. Married to one wife, Alta Achile, he lives an exemplary life as a husband, a father, and a Pastor as the bible so clearly requires an elder. As a man of great vision, he works closely with a group of young leaders to transmit the vision to them and reassure the continuity of this colossal work.
